Alan Rickman, famous for his role as Professor Snape in Harry Potter died in a London hospital on Thursday January 14th 2016. Sixty-nine year-old Rickman had suffered from a slight stroke, and then died shortly after from pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic Cancer Action, an awareness group, said “we were sad to hear that one of Britain's most popular actors Alan Rickman passed away after a short battle with cancer”. Only some of Rickman’s closest friends and family knew of the disease. Daniel Radcliffe, who acted alongside him in Harry Potter, said, “Rickman was undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with.” Stephen Fry referred to him as “a man of such talent, wicked charm and stunning screen and stage presence.” Michael Gambon said eloquently, “Everybody loved Alan. He was always happy and fun and creative and very, very funny. He had a great voice, he spoke wonderfully well." Harry Potter fans in Orlando have left flowers, letters, and other tributes in Universal Studios where his character’s name is mentioned.
