Serial Killer Lonnie David Franklin Jr. Nicknamed “ the grim sleeper” has been charged with killing one girl and nine women. 30 years after the first victim of the Grim Sleeper was found, Franklin is facing a jury in downtown Los Angeles. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Franklin, age 63, has pleaded not guilty. "All I can say is stayed tuned," said the lawyer, Seymour Amster. The trial is expected to last two to three months and started earlier this week on Tuesday. Beth Silverman (lead prosecutor on the case) says, “The murders follow a pattern,” stating that, "Most of them were in various states of undress," "Some were missing their bras. ... Some were missing their underwear." All but one of the victims tested positive for cocaine and all bodies were found as Jane Does until family members were found to identify them. Prosecutors say Franklin is tied to to the killings due to saliva found on the bodies, and ballistics match a handgun seized from Franklin's home on the day he was arrested. A woman alleged to have survived Franklin's attack is expected to be the star witness in this investigation. We will keep you posted on upcoming events in this investigation.
